New Interfaces for Musical Expression This project explores the claustrophobic psychology of chronic anxiety within relationships—the persistent fear that a lapse in vigilance will invite impending disaster.

Technical Details: Developed with Ableton Live and Arduino utilizing a custom-fabricated MIDI controller. Sensory hardware integrates photocells (light sensors), pressure sensors, Velostat, conductive fabric, conductive rubber, conductive threads, breadboards, and custom circuitry. Physical production features intricate woodwork, precision laser cuts, hand-soldering, and textile fabrication.

In this live performance, these invisible emotional tethers are materialized through custom interfaces and an interactive domestic stage. Two performers are physically bound by a custom-engineered "rope" made of conductive rubber and wrapped in a visually striking pink fabric; as they struggle to escape, their kinetic tension dynamically alters the sonic landscape in real-time.

Everyday household items are transformed into live musical controllers: a sensor-embedded pillow utilizes handmade Velostat to modulate musical intensities, while a responsive chair cushion, a floor mat, and a photocell-driven lamp dynamically scale the overall audio environment through the performers' touch and movement.
